The Beginning....

Beginning in January 2011, I plan to start on a journey to lose weight and get more physically fit. I would like to lose at least 60 pounds within the year. I don't have "my plan" all together yet, but I do know a few things that I need to do. I REALLY need to reduce the amount of sugar in my diet--soft drinks, tea, snacks, etc. I think that will be an excellent beginning, but a difficult one! I also need to eat healthier foods and eat out less. I plan to watch the Biggest Loser, beginning Jan. 3 to help motivate myself to work hard and stick with it. I'm hoping that my husband will join with me as I attempt to become healthier.

I am currently reading a book called "Thin Within" -- a Grace-Oriented Approach to Lasting Weight Loss. I am currently on Day 8 of 30. It basically teaches you to rely on God, not yourself, and to follow 8 simple guidelines to eating. Hopefully reading this book will get me inspired and give me the strength (through God) to complete this weight loss journey.

I plan to blog the experience for several reasons--to keep me accountable, motivated, and to encourage others in their own journey.
