Today is the 1st day of my journey to lose weight. I decided that I will first try to follow the 8 Keys to Conscious Eating from "Thin Within". I'm going to give myself 2 weeks and if I don't lose weight, then I will start counting calories and tracking what I eat.
The 8 Keys:
1. Eat only when my body is hungry.
2. Reduce the number of distractions in order to eat in a calm environment.
3. Eat when sitting down.
4. Eat when my body and mind are relaxed.
5. Eat and drink the food and beverages my body enjoys.
6. Pay attention to my food while eating.
7. Eat slowly and savor each bite.
8. Stop BEFORE my body is "full" or "stuffed". Should be comfortable.
I was able to follow the above keys today. I also reduced the amount of soft drinks and tea that I drank.
Only eating when I'm hungry should reduce the amount of eating I do because of boredom, cravings, emotions, etc. However, it's not an easy thing to do. It will take a total dependence on God to help me change those bad habits and develop better ones.
